Foundation installs playground at pre-school in Ikageng

On Friday, 12 November, Amira Willighagen's foundation, Stichting Gelukskinders (Lucky Children’s Foundation) donated brightly-coloured swings, slides, climbing bars, and crawling tunnels to the children of Hope of Glory Angels.

According to clinical psychologists, play is not a luxury but a necessity. And that is precisely what Amira Willighagen is encouraging children to do.

On Friday, 12 November, her foundation, Stichting Gelukskinders (Lucky Children’s Foundation) donated brightly-coloured swings, slides, climbing bars, and crawling tunnels to the children of Hope of Glory Angels.

The official handover of the playing equipment was a super fun day for all the little angels. They had a proper party with pancakes, lollipops, snacks, and drinks. The atmosphere was abuzz, with children playing and laughing.

The school principal, Noshel Halaza, said it was an emotional day for her when she saw how much the children enjoyed their new playground. “I don’t know who were the happiest, the children or the teachers,” she says with a big smile.

Amira Willighagen was born in the Netherlands and won the sixth season of Holland’s Got Talent in 2013, at the age of nine. She discovered her talent and passion for music and singing using YouTube tutorials. She is now a famous international singer with lots of fans all over the world.

Amira also founded Stichting Gelukskinders, raising funds to build playgrounds at schools. The funds are used for building, installing, and maintaining the play equipment.

On 5 March 2014, Amira opened the first playground in Ikageng. She co-financed it from half of the revenue she made with her first international performances.

The foundation plans to build more playgrounds at local schools. In December, they will install a playground at Opang Diatla (Ventersdorp) and, next year, at Bokamosa (Rysmierbult), and Keotsho-pile in Ikageng.
