Unemployed man gives back

After noticing children going to the same school as his kids without shoes in 2018, Elias Matras from Ward 12 in Ikageng was determined to assist in any way he could.

“It broke my heart to see that some children were living under those circum-stances while I was trying to create a better future for mine,” he said.

It has been almost four years since Elias felt a shift in his heart and his charitable deeds continue. Although currently unemployed, his situation does not deter him from giving back.
“With the help of sponsors, I was recently able to give back to the children of Keagile Intermediate School on Thursday, 24 February. We provided pap and sugar for them as many arrive at school without having anything to eat,” he said. “I approach schools in need and we try and assist where we can.”

Elias, who already has a list of beneficiaries, says the next goal is to provide school shoes for them.
“Soon, we will be approaching winter and we cannot let our children suffer,” he said.
Elias extends a huge thank you to all his sponsors who continue to contribute to the development of the community.
“From private to public companies and all members of the community, no donation goes unnoticed. None of this would be possible without you,” he said.
