Originally from KwaZulu-Natal, Mandla Mbotho (25) has always found inspiration in the youth who are motivated to bring about change.
Being a resident of Potchefstroom for nine years, Mandla made sure to make his mark when he started competing in pageants in 2015. After several competitions, he holds the Mr United Africa title, which he won in September last year.
This year, Mandla is taking part in Mr Prime SA 2022 in Mahikeng where he aspires to use his platform to shine a light on issues affecting the country.
“As a member of the Ikageng Youth Crime Prevention Desk, I have always aspired to have a positive impact in my community,” he said. He added that his biggest wish was to see the youth getting more platforms to develop skills in their desired career fields.
“I want to deal with things like youth drug abuse, crime and unemployment,” he said.
“With the extremely high unemployment rates our youth faces, they resort to crime and drugs to cope; we need to change that,” he said.
Although Mandla knows this will not happen overnight, he is determined to use his platforms to try.
To help keep the youth busy, Mandla uses his time to engage in community activities, “One of our recent projects was raising money to paint and renovate a creche in Ikageng,” he added.
“I have entered Mr Prime SA as one of the ways to act on some of the issues we face. Please follow my journey, support me and vote for me so we can all reap better access to opportunities for the youth, service delivery and community development in our communities,” he said.
