Blue Green South Africa (BGSA), a non-profit organisation (NPO) founded by Mbuyiselo Jerry Mngxitama received a tablet donation from the Rotary Club, an international non-profit organisation that brings together a global network of volunteers.
According to Jerry, on Wednesday, 4 May he took it upon himself to ask the rotary to assist them where possible. “There are a lot of things that we need as an NPO and the Rotary club has helped us,” he said.
“We work with several community groups and Jerry reached out to us via Facebook. After discussing his ambitions and goals the club agreed to assist him with two bicycles, a tablet and various small initiatives that help him, help his community,” Johnny Ford, President of Potch Rotary Mooi, said.
“Since we don’t have any other mode of transport, the bicycles have been very helpful in terms of getting us around the community,” Jerry explained.
“The tablet is also a much-appreciated donation that will really make our charity work easier,” he added. The device will allow them to take quality photos of their work as well as assist in keeping track of their data.
Rotary explained that they donate what is requested. “When looking to contribute, we don’t assume what’s needed, we engage and ask how we can help you, help the community,” Ford explained.
“Jerry needed a tablet to communicate, it offers applications that improve and enhance his output and ensures that he can conduct his operations anywhere in South Africa,” he added.
“We fully support the initiative. However, with the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve struggled to generate funds through community engagement projects. We plan on walking a long road with all sustainable projects and look forward to future engagements with Jerry and his NPO,” Ford added.
Jerry is extremely grateful for the support his NPO has received from the Rotary Club and looks forward to the growth and development of the community.
