A house robbery occurred in Jack Pauw Street at approximately 03:15 on Sunday, 13 June.
According to Elzeth Pienaar, they were sleeping when the alarm went off. “We looked around the house, and everything seemed fine, so we went back to sleep.
It was only when they woke up later that morning that they noticed there had been a robbery; they immediately called the police. “It is weird because they didn’t go for the big things like the TV. They took expensive things like my husband’s camera and iPads,” she said.
Following the incident, a WhatsApp message circulated on social media, insinuating that the robbery might be due to the illegal Mooibank residents. However, Charles Lekgetho, a community leader, insists that was not the case.
“There were always break-ins there, even before we moved here, so they must not accuse us of such,” he said.
Elzeth dismisses these claims and insists they have no idea who might be involved in the crime. She says they are thankful for the support they have received.
“The police have been extremely helpful. We are truly grateful,” she concluded.
