This past Saturday, Cupcakes of Hope, a non-profit organization that supports children with cancer across South Africa, celebrated National Cupcake Day with events across the country. For this year, Potchefstroom celebrated the day at Mooirivier mall from 9 am to 3 pm.
For a small donation, there were delicious cupcakes, baked by Cupcake Angels for everyone to enjoy while helping a child in need. This year’s awareness campaign was extra special because the foundation celebrated its 10th National cupcake day.
“ This year’s cupcake drive was truly amazing and we can’t thank the community enough for opening their hearts and pockets to raise funds for our little warriors,” Angelique from the cupcake angels said.
The foundation celebrated national cupcake day in two parts, where they made preorders on the Friday before the cupcake day for businesses and people who are not able to attend cupcake day on Saturday. “We had a whole lot of businesses and schools who ordered this year,” Angelique added.
For this year’s awareness campaign, almost 4500 cupcakes were sold. “ This was massive and we are definitely looking to grow that number next year,” she said.
The foundation also had numerous sponsors this year that they would like to thank from the bottom of their hearts. “ Without their donations, we would not be able to do this,” Angelique concluded.
If any person or business wants to get involved in this project they are more than welcome to contact Elmarieta on 082 683 6055 or Angelique on 082 822 5250 for more information.
