Video: Man helps neighbour out of the goodness of his heart

After over 15 years of being neighbours, Catherine Motsisi and Johnny Barbers from Promosa have maintained a friendly relationship, assisting each other in times of need.

Motsisi says she can’t remember when last someone else had cleaned her garden before Barbers volunteered to do it for her. Barbers says he would always see her trying to clean the yard on her own since her husband passed away a few years ago. “It was heartbreaking to see this, and I thought I should do my part to assist where I could,” he said.

After almost three hours of cleaning the yard, Barbers said he felt so fulfilled that he couldn’t wait to get home and tell his fiancé about the good deed. However, before he could, his neighbour and her granddaughter were already knocking their door to show their gratitude.

“I was over the moon when Johnny assisted me,” Motsisi said. “I didn’t know what I could offer him to say thank you, but because he is such a kind soul, he didn’t want anything in return,” she added.

This isn’t the first time Barbers has been a good samaritan. Just weeks before cleaning Motsisi’s yard, he assisted an elderly woman after her pipes burst. “The situation was so severe that her entire house flooded. It took us the entire night to clean it up,” he recalled.

Barbers added that it’s important to always be kind and assist others in times of need.
