Municipality intends to begin compiling 2024 General Valuation Roll

Officials of the JB Marks Local Municipality: Valuation Section has stated that ratepayers should be on the lookout for data collectors and property valuers who may require access to certain properties in order to do inspections.

Officials of the JB Marks Local Municipality: Valuation Section has stated that ratepayers should be on the lookout for data collectors and property valuers who may require access to certain properties in order to do inspections. This with regards to a legislative procedure in the compilation of the 2024 General Valuation Roll.

“Such individuals should be identified (by identification cards). Some ratepayers would get access to information
requests about the property that the valuer apparently needs to value,” stated JB Marks municipal spokesperson, Jeanette Tshite

In terms of Section 30(1) of the Municipal Property Rates Act 6 of 2004 as amended, a Municipality intending to levy a rate on property must in accordance with this Act cause –
(a) A general valuation to be made of all properties in the Municipality determined in terms
of subsection (2); and
(b) A valuation roll to be prepared of all properties determined in terms of subsection (3).
In light of this background,
hereby notify residents that they intend to start a legislative procedure of compiling the 2024
General Valuation Roll.
