JB Marks and Sanral tackle pothole dilemma

A beacon of light for residents is a combined initiative from The JB Marks Municipality in conjunction with Sanral (South African National Roads Agency) to rehabilitate damaged road infrastructure on the N12.

Potholes has been an ever-growing concern in Potchefstroom with numerous residents voicing their displeasure regarding damaged tyres and rims this past year alone.

A beacon of light for residents is a combined initiative from The JB Marks Municipality in conjunction with Sanral (South African National Roads Agency) to rehabilitate damaged road infrastructure on the N12.

A new Vala Zonke “War Room” has been set up by the Department of Transport and Sanral to handle the pothole dilemma.

Sanral was selected to serve as the campaign’s coordination organization, and it was given the responsibility of bringing all pothole-related data into agreement and supplying the technological know-how required to ensure the campaign’s faultless execution.

“The first priority is to fix open potholes as they harm tyres, rims, and result in accidents. This is a crucial campaign that will have a significant impact on the lives of many South Africans. It will transform the appearance of our Municipal and Provincial Highways from their current state of disrepair to one free of potholes,” stated JB Marks municipal spokesperson, Jeanette Tshite.

The campaign to fix potholes is a call for a joint effort by the nine Provinces and all 278 Municipalities, comprising eight Metropolitan, 44 Districts and 226 Local Municipalities.
