Various areas in Potchefstroom will be without electricity this afternoon, May 12.

This is due to urgent repairs that need to be done to at Alpha substation. According to municipal spokesperson, Jeanette Tshite, the fault needs to be repaired before it causes severe damage to the electrical equipment. The repairs will start at 14:00.

The areas affected include:

• Suiddorp
• Miederpark
• Wilgeboom
• CBD
• Dassierand
• Kanonierspark
• Promosa
• Grimbeekpark
• Portions of Bailliepark
• NWU
• Military base
• Mediclinic
• Witrand

“The estimated electricity supply restoration is at 17:00 however, residents are advised to treat their electrical supply as live. The supply can be restored unexpectedly at any time,” Tshite said.
