Potchefstroom residents in several neighbourhoods are facing reduced water pressure after a pump failure at the Ventersdorp Road Main Pump Station.

JB Marks Local Municipality confirmed on September 3, that Pump 5, which feeds the Eesterandjies Reservoirs, suffered a mechanical breakdown. The fault has left large parts of the city affected, including Kannoniers Park, Witrand Hospital, SANDF facilities, Dassierand, Promosa, Mohadin, all Ikageng extensions, as well as the reservoirs themselves.

According to Jeanette Tshite, municipal spokesperson the Technical Services Maintenance Team has been deployed and is working “with urgency” to restore supply.

In the meantime, residents are urged to use water sparingly.

“We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation while repairs are underway,” Tshite said in a statement.
