Mediclinic Potchefstroom expands High Care capacity
The unit offers a higher level of care than a general ward can provide
Mediclinic Potchefstroom is proud to confirm that it has recently expanded its High Care Unit, doubling the number of beds from 6 to 12. This allows the hospital to accommodate more patients for close monitoring and specialised treatment.
The unit offers a higher level of care than a general ward can provide, but not the full level of intensive care. Together with the hospital’s existing ICU facilities, this expansion strengthens the level of care available to the community and ensures patients have access to the right care at the right time.

The additional beds were created by reallocating existing beds from other hospital units, enabling Mediclinic Potchefstroom to meet growing healthcare needs while making the best use of available resources. This development helps bridge the gap between general and intensive care, providing patients and their families with greater peace of mind in a safe, supportive environment.
The hospital also recognises the dedication of its healthcare team, whose expertise and commitment made this expansion possible. It’s another step towards providing high-quality, patient-centred care to the Potchefstroom community and surrounding areas.
