Missing Klerksdorp teenager found safe

Mmalatsatsi's disappearance prompted an appeal from police after she could not be found when school ended on Friday.

A 17-year-old girl who was reported missing after disappearing from school in Klerksdorp has been found safe.

Mmalatsatsi Kamogelo Phelelo, who was reported missing after she failed to return to the Rethabile Children’s Home in Freemanville on Friday, July 24, was found unharmed in Swartruggens on Sunday evening, July 26.

North West police spokesperson Colonel Adéle Myburgh confirmed that the teenager had been located and thanked members of the public for their assistance.

“The South African Police Service appreciates the community’s assistance in helping to trace the missing teenager,” said Myburgh.

Mmalatsatsi’s disappearance prompted an appeal from police after she could not be found when school ended on Friday. She was last seen after being dropped off at school by the children’s home’s transport vehicle.

Police have confirmed that she was found unharmed, bringing the search to a positive conclusion.
