Police are appealing to the public for assistance in tracing a 17-year-old girl who disappeared after being dropped off at school in Klerksdorp.

Mmalatsatsi Kamogelo Phelelo, who is originally from Ratsagae Village near Swartruggens, is currently residing at the Rethabile Children’s Home in Freemanville.

According to North West police spokesperson Colonel Adéle Myburgh, Mmalatsatsi was last seen on Friday, July 24, after she was dropped off at school by the children’s home’s transport vehicle, a Volkswagen Crafter.

“After school, she could not be found and has since not returned,” said Myburgh.

At the time of her disappearance, Mmalatsatsi was wearing her maroon winter school uniform. She is approximately 1.6m tall, weighs about 65kg, has a medium build, short black hair, dark brown eyes, a dimple on her chin and a dark complexion.

Myburgh urged anyone with information that could assist police in locating the teenager to contact the investigating officer attached to the Klerksdorp Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit, Warrant Officer Dave Venter, on 082 460 4447.
