Emergency repair work has been completed this past week at the corner of Du Plooy Street and Beyers Naudé Avenue following the collapse of a sewer pipeline two weeks ago.

The sewer pipeline collapsed on Friday, 17 July, which required municipal contractors to excavate a section of the roadway in order to access and replace the damaged sewer pipeline.

According to JB Marks Municipality spokesperson, Jeanette Tshite, the work has been completed successfully and the affected infrastructure restored.

“The JB Marks Local Municipality extends its sincere appreciation to residents, motorists, and all road users for their patience, understanding, and cooperation throughout the repair process. The Municipality acknowledges that the public’s support was instrumental in enabling the work to be completed safely and efficiently,” stated Tshite.

The road has been retarred as well.

“The Municipality remains committed to maintaining essential infrastructure and responding promptly to service disruptions in the interest of the community,” she added.
