Community in shock after death of young father

According to North West police spokesperson Col. Adele Myburgh, the suspect handed himself over and has been arrested.

The death of Thusi Levi Molefi (30) has shocked the Potchefstroom and Ikageng communities after he was allegedly stabbed in Potchindustria in the early hours of Sunday morning (September 6).

Molefi was rushed to Potchefstroom Hospital with multiple stab wounds, but he did not survive and was declared dead at 03:15 that morning.

According to North West police spokesperson Col. Adele Myburgh, the police are investigating a case of murder.

“The suspect who allegedly stabbed Molefi later that morning went to Ikageng Police Station and handed himself over. He wanted to open a case against Molefi for assault. He was then arrested,” explained Myburgh.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Potchefstroom Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, September 8, on a charge of murder.

Thusi Levi Molefi was known for his friendly personality.

Molefi was well known in the community as “Big Fish” and was described as a gentleman and a well-liked individual. At the time of his passing, he was an employee at Woolworths.

He loved life and his daughter was his everything.

Numerous members of the community were still in shock and were also demanding justice.
