Motorists and residents in Potchindustria are advised to expect temporary traffic disruptions on Sunday, September 20, as the JB Marks Local Municipality undertakes urgent sewer repair work.

The repairs will take place at the corner of Luitingh Street and Ikageng Road, near the municipality’s Electricity Department.

According to Jeanette Tshite, municipal spokesperson, the municipality is attending to an urgent sewer blockage which requires the construction and connection of a new section of sewer line to the existing manhole next to the building on Ikageng Road.

“The work will require the use of heavy machinery, road excavations and personnel working within the roadway. As a result, there will be a partial road closure and temporary traffic disruptions in the area,” Tshite said.

The work is scheduled to take place from 08:00 on Sunday and will continue until completion on the same day.

Tshite said assistance has been requested from the municipality’s Department of Community Safety and Transport Management to facilitate traffic control and ensure the safety of motorists, pedestrians and municipal personnel while the work is underway.

Residents and motorists are urged to exercise caution when travelling through the area, follow traffic-control measures and use alternative routes where possible.

“The JB Marks Local Municipality apologises for any inconvenience caused while these urgent works are being undertaken,” Tshite said.
