From humble rugby beginnings at Potchefstroom Boys High to the captain’s armband at Super Rugby level. That is the modus operandi in Edgar Marutlulle’s rugby journey as he puts on the captains arm band for the Southern Kings this weekend.

This will be the first time that Marutlulle will captain a Super Rugby franchise when his team takes on the dangerous Emirates Lions in Johannesburg on Friday at Emirates Airline Park.

The Potchefstroomer, who represented Potch Boys High at school level, as well as the NWU Pukke and the Leopards in his career, has had a fantastic season at hooker for the Kings. His form was also rewarded with a recent SA A call up against the England Saxons last months.

Be sure to keep an eye on the Kings new captain this Friday at 19:00 – surely another star from Potchefstroom Boys High will follow in Marutlulle’s footsteps soon.
