The world renowned, NWU-Puk javelin coach, Terseus Liebenberg experienced an unprecedented year of success in 2016.

In light of his achievements on a global stage, he was recently named the SAAS (South African Athletics Statisticians) Junior and Youth Coach of the Year.

He coached both Jo-Ané van Dyk and Johan Grobler to silver medals in the 2016 World Junior Championships in Poland. Furthermore, he also coached Sunette Viljoen to silver in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. Liebenberg has also previously won the SAAS Coach of the Year award  twice, in 2010 and 2011.

This year, the Coach of the Year award went to Ans Botha, who coached the 400-metre sensation, Wayde van Niekerk to Olympic Gold and a new world record.
