A blistering 49 (33) from wicketkeeper Edrich Lubbe and a venomous bowling display from JP le Roux (4-12) took NWU-Pukke to their third win of the Red Bull Campus Cricket tournament by  76 runs against Pakistan.

Lubbe was named man of the match for his knock  that took the stuffing out of the Pakistan attack as South Africa’s representatives compiled 192/7 from their 20 overs in the Sri Lankan heat.

This win takes Pukke into the semi-finals where they will face Bangladesh on Friday.

His namesake Wihan Lubbe started Pukke’s innings like a house on fire with a 40 (22) as he and Janneman Malan put up a solid 70 run partnership.

That set the tone for Edrich Lubbe who went on to smash 3 fours and 3 sixes in a match winning knock.

Pukke’s bowlers were also on fire from the start as pace bowler Le Roux carved through the Pakistanis to leave them in tatters at 37/4. Dyllan Matthews once again showed his knack for wicket taking with figures of 3/22. Pakistan’s Mohammad Butt hit a fiery 33 (15) but his wicket saw Pakistan hit the end of the road as they were dismissed for 116.
