NWU Waterpolo is excited and keen for the new season that will run from October 2017 to March 2018.

The Men’s and Women’s teams are registered to participate in the GWPL Gauteng Waterpolo League in which the Puk will travel and play league fixtures against clubs over weekends. They will also take part in the Annual USSA / Old Eds Waterpolo Tournament from 5 to 8 October.
The League games consist of 8 clubs with both the men’s and women’s teams playing at the same venue which greatly assists the teams’ support, motivation and performance. The USSA tournament involves all the universities of SA.
The manager and coach, Murray de Jager is pleased with the progress of the teams and believes that both have the right commitment and the balance of experience and youth in the squads to ensure results. ‘There has been rapid progress in the league and at USSA and, with the continued valued support provided by Helene Botha and NWU Sport, these teams can also provide a sustainable platform for potential players in the future,’ he added.
The men’s team has seasoned veterans like Constant Claassen; the valuable goalkeeper, Michael Brooks, Jacques du Toit, Dewald Allers, Oloff Paul, Anton du Randt and Johan Harmse. They are assisted by the talented Pierre van der Merwe; Tiens Odendaal and ex-swimmers Ruhan Boshoff and Hendus Janse van Rensburg.
The dedicated and motivated women’s team will be led by the experienced and committed Michelle Cronjé and Leané van Rooyen; assisted by Jessika Ras, Olivia MacDonald, Megan de Jager, Jolly Steyn, Daniela Smit, Cosette Troskie and Freda Kotze.
Practice times are from 17:30 to 19:00 daily from Monday to Thursday.
