The long awaited 2018/19 North West High School cricket season is about to start and anticipation is reaching fever pitch

The first balls of this 50 overs a side league will officially start on Saturday 18 August  with defending champions, Hoër Volkskool Potchefstroom taking on Hoërskool Rustenburg at Volkies in the first u.19A super league match. Potchefstroom Gimnasium will take on Hoërskool Klerksdorp at KHS, with Hoërskool Lichtenburg taking on Hoërskool Wesvalia at Lichtenburg.

All these six teams will provide a competitive season of cricketing action, with Gimmies looking to avenge their defeat in last year’s final by 1 wicket against Volkies. KHS will most surely want to reclaim their glory days and cannot be underestimated. Liggies and Rustenburg will also knock on the door and newcomers, Wesvalia may give their opponents a scare during the season.

Cricket fans in Potch can diarise 1 September as the traditional Gimmies vs Volkies cricket clash will take place at Volkies. Concurrently the Klerksdorp derby between Klerksdorp and Wesvalia will take place at KHS on the same day.

u.19 B Super League

The u.19 B Super League will see teams divided into three pools. In pool A, Potch Gimmies B, Ikageng Hub, Potch Volkies B, Potchefstroom Boys High and THS Potch will do battle. The rivalry match between THS and Boys High will take place on 8 September at Boys High. The grand final to crown the B league champions will take place on 20 October.

Pool B will see Ferdies, Matlosana Hub, Schoonspruit, Potch Gimmies 3 and Hoërskool Wolmaransstad battle it out for honours. Pool C will feature a jostle between Brits, Rustenburg, Lichtenburg en Fields College.
