John Mitchell recently gave up his position as a rugby coach with Blue Bulls to pursue his impending international career. He will now take up the role of defence coach for England. It isn’t the first time that Mitchell will coach England as he has previously done it between 1997 and 2000 under the supervision of Sir Clive Woodward. His relationship with Blue Bulls seems like a done deal because Mitchell has no intention of leaving England anytime soon. While the South African rugby team is unhappy with his premature departure, it seems like Mitchell settled of a good sum.

For sports bettors, the development is one that they need to look at closely. It could just shape up how they bet on online rugby betting with betway South Africa. Knowing the teams formations and its players can help them make the right choices, which in turn, can help them win big. Everybody matters, from the players to the coaches when it comes to rugby. The right coaches can boost team morale and help them perform better.

Who Will be the New Coach?

Blue Bulls Company have reportedly started shopping for a new coach because the English national team want Mitchell to join in less than a month. Mitchell was elected after England’s former defence coach Paul Gustard left the team for Harlequin Football Club. Even though Rugby Football Union hasn’t spoken a single word about Mitchell’s selection, Blue Bulls was quick to respond that the former coach’s contract with them ends on October 31, 2019.

If rumors are to be believed, Blue Bulls has already contacted some of the best coaches from South Africa, which they didn’t want to do but Mitchell left and they were left with no choice. Two of the leading candidates are Victor Matfield and Fourie du Preez. Some less popular but significant names on the list are John Dobson and Jimmy Stonehouse. While the others aren’t related to Blue Bulls in any way, Stonehouse’s connection goes way back when he was the teacher at Bulls Craven Week and Hoërskool Waterkloof. Stonehouse just returned home to South Africa from Japan after spending three years with Brave Lupus.

Other candidates

Blue Bulls also have former Pretoria talent, Fourie du Preez, who played with the team for 10 years. He represented South Africa during the 2011 Rugby World Cup and has won South African player of the year two times in the past.

41-years old Victor Matfield is on the radar too. He also played for the team for almost 10 years, helping Blue Bulls win three Currie Cup titles and three Super 14 title. Matfield is unarguably the best player for Blue Bulls in the past 20 years. Current Western Province head coach John Dobson is also a favorite candidate. His team won the most recent Currie Cup, which was held in 2017. The rugby team is definitely in a desperate situation as games will start soon.
