The NWU-Pukke first cricket team continued its dominance in the North West Premier Club Cricket League with a commanding 7-wicket win against Ibbies at the Puk Oval on Saturday.
It was always going to be a hard-fought encounter between the first team and the first B team of the NWU, with both sides hoping to secure bragging rights about who the better side is on the day.

As expected, NWU was just too strong for their student counterparts and Ibbies was skittled out for 140. Only Johan Mulder (46) provided some resistance with Pukke bowlers, Ruan Haasbroek (2/16) and Jesse James Albanie (2/24) doing the damage with the ball. Lourén Steenkamp was back to his very best with a stylish 73 not out and, together with Khaya Cotani (22 not out), stroked their side to a comfortable victory.

Potch Dorp 1 also made light work of Klerksdorp Travellers with a comfortable 6-wicket win, thanks largely to Richardt Frenz with a blistering 64* (38) and Faan Nel (51 off 33) who both scored immaculate half-centuries.

Travellers were bowled out for 159 before Dorp achieved their target with a massive 30 overs to spare. Potch Dorp’s second team was not so lucky as they succumbed to a 6-wicket loss against Ikageng. The experienced Johannes Diseko (2/33) and Vusi Mazibuko (2/30) performed with the ball and Thirenda Perera scored an unbeaten 44 with the willow. Bathabile Masigo also hit a valuable undefeated 36 (61).
