Ferdies first cricket team overcomes Wollies in thriller

Ferdies got the 2 wicket win largely due to some outstanding bowling and cool calm and collected batting at the end as Lionel Moss (18* off 27) hit the winning boundary.

Ferdinand Postma High School’s first cricket team recently beat Hoërskool Wolmaransstad in a closely fought encounter at Wollies this past Saturday.

Ferdies got the 2 wicket win largely due to some outstanding bowling and cool calm and collected batting at the end as Lionel Moss (18* off 27) hit the winning boundary. With him at the other side of the pitch was numbre 10 batsman Duanne Bester (4*).

Earlier on it was Bester (2/33) and the Botha’s (Marco with 2/41 and Duan 3/48) who made the most damage as they restricted Wolmanransstad to 204 all out.

Ferdies reply did not get off to the best start as they were soon 46/3 chasing a modest total.  It was Fardin Khair with 59 and Muhammad Motara (30) who seadied the ship with a good partnership. Another middle order collapse had Ferdies in trouble before Moss played a great hand at the end to bring his side over the line.

Ferdies' Lionel Moss was one of the reamining batsman at the crease for Ferdies u.19A team.
