After a long and arduous wait, cricket fans can finally get a taste of their favourite sport when the CSA 20/21 season gets lift off in November.

Cricket South Africa announced the list of fixtures this past Thursday, 8 October and sees a few renovations for the new season, due to the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In the provincial competition, the North West Dragons will find themselves in pool B alongside the likes of Northerns, Mpumalanga, Western Province, KZN Inland and Eastern Province among other strong contenders.

At a franchise level, the Lions will play in a T20 competition together with the Momentum One Day Cup and CSA Four Day Series. As a consequence the Msanzi Super League has been postponed  for this season.

As previously announced the franchises will play a T20 competition in addition to the Momentum One-Day Cup and the CSA Four-Day Franchise Series following the decision to postpone the Mzansi Super League.

The Four Day series and One Day Cup will see the six franchises compete in two pools with double round robin fixtures as well as cross pool matches.

“This provides for a minimum of seven matches for each franchise and these will be followed by a five-day final at the conclusion of the CSA Four-Day Franchise Series contested by the two teams topping its respective pool. In the Momentum One-Day Cup after the conclusion of the preliminary round teams ending 1st. and 2nd. in each pool will contest a cross-pool semi-final each with the respective winners progressing through to the final,” stated CSA Acting Chief Executive Kugandrie Govender in a press release.

The franchise season will start in the first week of November while provincial cricket for both men and women will start at the beginning of January.
