Life has been filled with blessings for the young, up-and-coming NWU netball star, Londeka Buthelezi. Netball has taken her on a journey from KZN all the way to the North West Province, where she is currently doing business as an NWU and North West Flames player.

“I joined a club team back at home in KZN when I was 11 years old. When I started high school in 2014, I started playing for the provincial u.14 team,” Buthelezi explains where her career started.
Buthelezi, who primarily plays wing attack, goal defence and centre, is under no illusion that fantastic coaches at the NWU have helped her game to progress from school to tertiary level.
“The NWU has helped me grow as a person and player. I’ve met the best coaches like Dr Elsje Jordaan, who really helped me grow as a player,” she mentions.
With that sound coaching also comes the knowledge that hard work and a passion for the game can bring you far in the sport.
“I’ve learnt that talent on its own won’t get you anywhere, but with commitment, hard work, dedication and consistency, it will get you everywhere,” Buthelezi says.
Her biggest highlight thus far is her inclusion in the North West Flames team. She dreams of playing for the national team one day, with her hard-working and never-say-die attitude. This human movement science and coaching science student, known to her teammates and friends as Londie, will surely reach higher goals in future, with each highlight being a stepping stone to national glory.
