Youngsters shine as North West Dragons Women continue winning ways

The Dragons Women were 210 all out at the end of their innings in 48.1 overs, with Lizri de Villiers (50) and Elandri Janse van Rensburg (39) hitting the highest scores.

The Senwes North West Dragons Women are on a winning streak of note. This month, they had two fantastic back-to-back victories against the Easterns and Titans Ladies.

The Dragons, under the coaching expertise of Wynand Schmitt, completed a well-deserved 58-run win in the 50-over match against the Titans Ladies on Saturday, 12 February.

The Dragons Women were 210 all out at the end of their innings in 48.1 overs, with Lizri de Villiers (50) and Elandri Janse van Rensburg (39) hitting the highest scores. The Dragons bowlers then followed up the good work with a merciless display, restricting the Titans ladies to 152 all out.

Nthabiseng Nini took 2/21 in 5 overs.

The next day, the NW Dragons women made light work of the 111-run target in their 20-over encounter. The Dragons won by 9 wickets, with Izel Cilliers (55) and Janse van Rensburg (40*) taking the team home.

The Dragons also beat the Eastern Storm Women by 68 runs two weeks ago. Here, the Grade 11 Gimmies learner, Janse van Rensburg, once again showed her promise with a fantastic 48 in the total of 118/6. Evodia Yekile (3/5) and Zintle Mali (3/8) bowled Easterns out for a paltry 50 runs.
