SA keep improving in Pro League encounters

SA's captain, Keenan Horne, scored the equaliser after Tom Grambusch opened the scoring in the 17th minute via a penalty corner.

The South Africa men’s hockey team took to the NWU Astroturf to take on Germany on Thursday evening (17 February) with the hosts going down 1-6 against the Germans.

The score might look like Germany dominated but after the first half, the score was actually tied 1-1 with SA doing the most in defence to keep the dangerous Germans at bay.

SA’s captain, Keenan Horne, scored the equaliser after Tom Grambusch opened the scoring in the 17th minute via a penalty corner.

After Germany regained the lead, they continued the pressure with a relentless display. Mats Grambusch, Luis Gill, Thies Prinz, Timm Herzbruch and Niklas Wellen scored the rest of Germany’s goals.

Overall SA had 26 % of the possession and only 9 entry into the circle in the entire match. In contrast, Germany had 26 entries and 8 shots at goal.

The SA men’s team next take on France on Sunday, 20 February as they look to improve on this performance.

The match starts at 20:00.
