The North West Dragons will face the Titans in a do or die encounter this coming Tuesday, 22 February in the T20 Cup.
The Dragons’ 7 wicket defeat against the Dolphins this past Friday has put them in a difficult spot in their bid for a semi-final position. The Dragons are currently in fifth place on 9 points, three points behind the Dolphins on 12 points, who has played the same amount of matches.
A win for the Dragons against an in form Titans side will bode well for the Potchefstroomers.
They will also need some of the others teams in the top four (Boland or the Dolphins) to lose a couple of matches. Their loss against the Dolphins will still hurt after they were in a promising position on 117/3 at one stage thanks to captain Nicky van den Bergh’s 52 (37).
The middle order though couldn’t fire and they ended their innings on 135/8. The Dolphins eased to a win thanks to their Proteas’ Keegan Petersen (43) and David Miller (35) in the chase.
The Dragons will need to fire on all cylinders against the Titans come Tuesday as nothing but a win will spell certain elimination.
