Board places North West Cricket CEO on precautionary suspension

An independent investigation is currently underway regarding NW Cricket CEO, Ismail Minty in "the interest of good governance."

The current Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of North West Cricket, Ismail Minty, has been placed on precautionary suspension pending the outcome of an independent investigation.

North West Cricket released a media statement on Monday afternoon (April 13), stating that the Board of Directors had resolved this at a duly constituted special meeting that took place on Friday, April 10.

“This step has been taken in the interest of good governance and does not constitute a finding of wrongdoing. The Board remains committed to ensuring organisational stability and continuity of operations, and an acting arrangement will be communicated in due course,” the statement read.

North West Cricket also added that they will not be providing further comment, as the matter is subject to an ongoing process.

Minty has been CEO of North West Cricket since 1 July 2023. He previously stepped into the acting CEO role after the former CEO, HP Prinsloo, resigned in 2022.

In 2025, there were allegations of misconduct levelled against Minty as well as the NWC president, Zubayr Minty and NWC Services Manager, Solomon Meki.

The North West Cricket Board directed for an internal investigation to be conducted into these allegations. This was made public with a press release on October 30, 2025 on the North West Cricket Facebook page.

On November 11 2025, North West Cricket released a media statement that stated no adverse findings had been made regarding the aforementioned allegations: “The majority of the North West Cricket Board resolved to adopt the investigation report. The report made no adverse findings against the three respondents, namely the President, CEO and Cricket Services Manager,” the statement said.
