Saints Christian School’s u19 soccer girls showed how resilience and keeping your head up can translate into trophy success.
Even though the girls lost their first match of the SSS (Super Soccer Schools) NW/Gauteng Provincial Tournament this past weekend, they came back with renewed vigour to sweep past their opponents and bag the title. They defeated CBC Mount Edgemund 3-0 in the final.

It was a breathtaking display of attacking football under the coaching of Ché Williams, who has fostered a tightknit group of girls who play for each other, but most importantly give glory to Jesus Christ.
Williams won the coach of the tournament award. Diarabilwe Ngobeni was the MVP of the tournament, whilst Marang Dithipe won the golden glove award for Best Goalkeeper of the tournament.
“The girls played exceptionally well. The player of the tournament was Diarabilwe Ngobeni, who scored six goals. Saints were by far the best girls team at the tournament,” stated Claudio Lucas, the sports director at Saints Christian School.
They will now move on to the national finals of the Super Soccer Schools tournament on 7-10 August at Urban Academy near Despatch in the Eastern Cape.
The Saints u16 boys also participated in the tournament and qualified for the semi-finals. They placed fourth overall and narrowly missed out on national qualification.
