Boys High and HTS Klerksdorp set for Classic Clash battle this Saturday

The seeds of a new town based rivalry is set to be planted this Saturday at Potch Boys High.

A new tradition is set to take shape this coming Saturday (June 30) when the Potchefstroom High School for Boys and HTS Klerksdorp face off in the FNB Classic Clash at Boys High.

Previously, Potch Boys High and HTS Potch clashed in this fixture, but this year HTS Klerksdorp will be a new opponent for Potch Boys High in an intertown rivalry between Potch and Klerksdorp.

The two first teams of both schools met up on Wednesday, May 27 to get to know each other and engage in fellowship and their shared passion for the sport, ahead of the weekends match.

According to Mohau Mohlahleli, sports director at Potchefstroom High School for Boys, this Classic Clash presents an opportunity to continue growing rugby in the school and taking it to the next level.

“It’s a privilege for the boys to play in a Classic Clash. It’s been a tough year, but rugby brings us together. College is known for being a place of pride and integrity. I am very exciting for the clash against Klerksdorp Tech,” he stated.

“We try to lift our rugby from u.14 level to all the other age groups. It’s about developing rugby and to get the best out of our players. This will be the first time playing against College and we know it will be a great day,” added HTS Klerksdorp coach, Dirk van Wyk.
