Swallows add to the Cape Town Challenge

Moroka Swallows added to the mix following Chippa United's withdrawal.

Moroka Swallows are the latest PSL side to join the Cape Town Challenge set to take place on the last weekend of July at the Athlone Stadium.

The Birds snuck into the mix after Chippa United unexpectedly withdrew from the four-team competition for reasons which seem to stem from their relocation to Port Elizabeth.

Along with Ajax Cape Town, Kosta Papic’s side was meant to be a representative from the Mother City despite having recently confirmed their migration away from the city.

But it is since been confirmed that they have withdrawn and that Swallows will instead take part in the tournament set to be played from July 25- 27.

Defending Absa Premiership champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, as well as Bidvest Wits will take part in the Challenge.

Bidvest Wits have been camping in Stellenbosch this week, preparing for the new season with several of their new signings. They will return to Gauteng before coming back to Cape Town for the mini tournament.
