Starting the year at the new Northern Academy campus

There were joyous smiles all around when Northern Academy Secondary School officially welcomed learners and teachers to their new campus.

POLOKWANE – There were joyous smiles all around when Northern Academy Secondary School officially welcomed learners and teachers to their new campus.

The new Northern Academy campus is situated on the R81 road and caters for high school learners from gr. 9 to 12.

The campus’ facilities include:

• Forty classrooms to accommodate 32 learners per class.

• Hostel facilities for both primary and high school learners.

• A multipurpose hall to be used for catering and school functions.

• A kitchen, laundry, sick bay, clothing shop and cafeteria.

• An enlarged administration facility including meeting rooms, offices and staff rooms.

• Sports facilities: two soccer fields and six multipurpose hard surface courts.

The school will accommodate 2 000 learners.

The teachers said they loved the new building and classrooms. “The classrooms are spacious and big enough for learners,” they said.

The principal, Dr Sonia du Plessis said the new campus would really assist in running the school even better than before, as the juniors and seniors were now separated.

“The primary school learners remain at the old campus.

“The learners will have enough classrooms in each campus, so that they are not too many in one class, and we were able to enrol new learners.”
