TZANEEN – Martie Botha (53), the CEO and principal of Letaba Further Education and Training (FET) College in Tzaneen will be taking up a new post in Rustenburg on February 1.
In her quiet and unassuming way, she says she was headhunted and went through two interviews before being appointed principal of the engineering and construction schools for the highly respected Royal Bafokeng Institute.
The international construction company WBHO is a founder partner in this project.
Botha will be in charge of up to 400 learners within the construction sector.
Botha was with Letaba FET College for 10 years. She matriculated at Ben Vorster High School, obtained her diploma in education in Pretoria and began teaching at Frans du Toit High School in Phalaborwa.
She and her husband will leave soon for Rustenburg, while her three adult children will remain in Tzaneen. An acting CEO will be appointed at the Letaba FET College until a suitable replacement is appointed.
Botha carries with her the grounded philosophy on life: “Focus on the task at hand. Do what you do to the best of your ability. Look at what you wish to achieve and then work to get there. Nothing happens by itself. Enjoy what you do. Anything that you attempt with passion is inevitably successful.
“Give your all, not just your best. Do what feels right for you, not for others. Work hard and be prepared to do more than what’s expected of you. Choose your friends carefully.
“Surround yourself with the good. Know yourself, accept yourself and enjoy life. The will of God will never take you where the grace of God will not protect you”.
