POLOKWANE – A total of 32 art teachers from Limpopo came together on Monday for a creative art lesson inspired by the late artist, Jackson Hlungwani, who used readily available materials to create his sculptures.
The lessons were conducted at the Polokwane Art Museum by Colin Stevens and Bev Bradnick. Teachers were taught to create art using waste materials.
“The idea of this session was for these teachers to teach these techniques to their learners.
“We wanted the teachers to come and try it out before teaching it to the learners, so that the technical processes can be understood,” Stevens said.
Welminah Sekhosana, a teacher from Tafelkop said it was very interesting to see what could be done with waste materials.
“The learners will love it. It is not too difficult to make, so the children will have fun,” she said.
