THE Marumofase Full Service School in Lenyenye outside Tzaneen was nominated in this year's Premier's Excellence Award competition which will take place next month

THE Marumofase Full Service School in Lenyenye outside Tzaneen was nominated in this year’s Premier’s Excellence Award competition which will take place next month.

The school has been short listed in the category for best innovation.

According to the school’s principal, George Ramodike, the school introduced various programmes, including a vegetable garden and admission of children with special needs, to add value to their community

Marumofase also introduced a newspaper reading project with the help of local community newspapers who donate newspapers to the school every week. A local bus company, Busaf, also donated two busses in which the school now runs two classrooms.

Ramodike said the school enrolled 80 children with special needs, some from other special needs schools like New Horison School in Polokwane.

He said they have gone from strength to strength with the help of the community, businesses, churches and the media.

Local businesses also support the school’s nutrition programme and Marumofase sell their vegetables to other schools and shops.

A competition assessment team from the premier’s office visited the school last week, led by chairperson Nathaniel Mudau.

Mudau said the team was very impressed with Ramodike’s excellent presentation and the school’s overall achievements.
