GOLE Secondary School outside Thohoyandou was announced as the best school in the Luvuvhu education circuit during the circuit’s excellence awards recently. The school obtained a 97,8% matric pass rate in 2013.
“We reached the top because we get support from parents, the School Governing Body and community leaders. The teachers also go the extra mile to achieve the best matric results by motivating the learners and giving them quality teaching,” said Vhonani Tshifura, the principal.
He said the teachers were committed in such a way that they volunteered to teach on Saturdays and holidays.
About eight secondary schools and 22 primary schools in the Luvuvhu circuit took part in the awards. The chairperson of Luvuvhu circuit management committee, Mashudu Matse said the awards started five years ago and were held annually to motivate the learners to continue progressing even after matric.
“We hope other schools which did not perform well learn from those who were awarded.
“We want Luvuvhu circuit to be the centre of excellence when it comes to producing the best and quality matric results,” said Matse.
