No school for learners when it rains

AROUND 450 learners from Khudu Secondary School in Lorraine village, Sekororo are forced to stay at home whenever there is heavy rainfall due to the roof of their school building having been destroyed during a storm three years ago.
The parents of these learners recently disrupted lessons when they arrived at school to take their children with them on a protest march aimed at putting pressure on the department of education to repair the roof.
Concerned parent, Matome Lesike said they had a problem with the department because time was running out for the learners to attend classes.
He said they were concerned with the slow pace the department was working at as the problem was reported about three years ago.
“We would like to appeal to the government to speed up the process of rebuilding the school in order for the learners to prepare for better results at the end of the year,” Lesike said.
Approached for comment, provincial education spokesperson, Pitsi Maloba said they were not aware of the problem, but promised to investigate.
