POLOKWANE – Ivy Park Primary School learners were given the opportunity to put their entrepreneurship skills to the test at the school’s entrepreneur day on Friday.
Parents were also invited to come and see their children putting the skills they had learnt in class into practise.
The school’s principal, Jaap van der Westhuizen, said the event was part of the natural science and technology curriculum. “We want learners to learn entrepreneurship skills at a very young age so that they can choose what they want to study after matriculating,” he said.
Learners had to rent the tables and spaces needed, but all the proceeds were theirs to keep, said Van der Westhuizen.
He said the learners had learnt a lot from the day and the skills acquired would help them in future. Learners described the gathering as educational and fun and said they were looking forward to doing it again soon.
