POLOKWANE – Early this year, Pepps Polokwane College changed its motto to “Creating Tomorrow’s Leaders”, and in celebration of the new motto on Friday, Pepps invited internationally acclaimed Prof Rasoava Rijamampianina, the academic director at the Wits Business School to address the learners on leadership.
Rijamampianina also presented a lecture on leadership for the parents later in the day.
“It is important that the teachers and parents be involved in developing the learners’ leadership skills as they have to embark on a journey of taking ownership of developing that skill,” said Rijamampianina.
During the lecture with the learners, Rijamampianina said a leader was born and developed from a young age.
“You start by taking charge now, do not wait for tomorrow to be the best you can be. Do not be afraid to be different, a leader does everything different from others. Every day is a new day, do not delay your future and your dreams by procrastinating, start planning now,” he said.
The head of preparatory school, Julia Warner said: “changing the school’s motto was to instil in the learners that they can be leaders one day, that we are here to make them learn and educate them to be better people in life, to be leaders. The leadership lecture really boosted their confidence and influenced them in a positive way”.
