POLOKWANE – Former Miss South Africa, Bokang Montjane, visited her former school, Ngwana Mohube Secondary School in Ga Mphahlele, last Wednesday where she gave a motivational talk to the learners.
The Bokang Montjane Foundation, in partnership with Cell C, uses Bokang’s Dare to Dream campaign to dare learners to dream big. The campaign aims to show children that they can become anything they set their minds to.
“We will visit 10 schools across the country. Our core focus is to tackle and combat issues that are challenging young people, like teenage pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases and substance abuse. We want to imbue confidence and self-esteem,” said Bokang.
Other major partners that are on board with the Bokang Montjane Foundation are Love Life, NYDA, Tsogo Sun, Broadway Sweets and the Siphiwe Tshabalala Foundation.
“Teenage pregnancy has always been my focus since my crowning as Miss South Africa.
“We cannot be a society that allows our young people to fall prey to unprotected sex, which comes with consequences such teenage pregnancy and HIV/aids.
“I want to make young people fall in love with the beauty of saying no and standing out rather than blending in. I want them to fight the notion of peer pressure and encourage responsibility,” Bokang said.
