POLOKWANE – Members of Maheroes, a men’s social club in Westenburg, celebrated Freedom Day by cleaning at the Good Hope Primary School.
The men cut the grass, cleaned the garden and removed litter from the premises.
After cleaning the school, they prepared delicious potjiekos and had some refreshments to cool off.
Maheroes was established in 2012.
They started out as a social club for men but are now dedicated to making a difference in the community through community outreach programmes, like cleaning the school.
Dan Mampa, founder of Maheroes said they supported the local schools. “If the community needs us, they can just call and we will be there to help where we can,” he said.
Maheroes consists of about 15 members, and they plan on hosting other charity projects in Westenburg soon.
“We might not be able to help financially, but we can help less privileged families by getting sponsors and painting houses, buying some groceries or cleaning their yards. We are also looking at what we can do for the high school,” Mampa explained.
Good Hope’s principal, Cindy Buys thanked the men for their hard work and contribution to the community.
