Hit and run in Vermikuliet Street leaves man in ICU

POLOKWANE – The family of Basie Nel appealed to the community to help find the person who knocked him down in Vermikuliet Street, Ladanna at 16:00 on Friday afternoon.
The 49-year-old was riding his red and blue motorcycle when he was hit by a silver bakkie.
The driver of the bakkie that hit Nel fled the scene of the accident.
Nel was admitted to the ICU at Mediclinic Limpopo, where he received medical attention.
According to his fiancé, Marietjie Pretorius, Nel broke his left arm in two places and his left leg was badly injured.
A case of reckless and negligent driving was being investigated by the Westenburg police station. Capt Mohlaka Mashiane, Westenburg police spokesperson said no arrests had been made yet and police investigations were continuing.
