POLOKWANE – With a welcome drink and a hug, about 150 mothers from Westenburg were welcomed to the Omega Church in Westenburg for the Westenburg Womens Forum’s Mother’s Day celebration on Sunday.
The mothers were entertained by the Ngodishe Saraffina Dance Group and a performance by Luciel Buys.
The mothers were then spoiled with lunch, followed by a piece of Mother’s Day cake.
Mary Buchanan, one of the mothers said it was a beautiful initiative by the Westenburg Womens Forum and thanked them for a lovely Mother’s Day celebration.
Christene Nel agreed with Buchanan and added: “It feels good to know that there are still people in our community who care for their neighbours and the elderly. Keep up the good work that you women do in our community and surrounding areas”.
Annetjie Kennedy, chairperson for the forum said it was important to all members in the forum to give to the community and that is the key reason they decided to celebrate Mother’s Day with the mothers.
“We would like to thank all the mothers who came to celebrate this day with us. Thanks to our sponsors: Goseame, Pick n Pay, John Emsily, Margaret Harris and the church council of Omega Church for allowing us to use their church,” Kennedy said.
