SOME 80 disadvantaged learners from Mamathieledzha Primary School outside Thohoyandou will no longer go to school without proper school uniforms, thanks to Express Store in Thohoyandou and Rooi Winkel in Makhado.
The two stores recently donated 80 full school uniforms, including shoes and ties, to the school.
“We are thankful to these good Samaritans who help poor children so that they can also realise their dreams,” said Mmbangiseni Nengwenani, principal of the school.
“We urge other businesses to donate more uniforms and shoes as we still have some learners without uniforms. Mamathieledzha is a rural school where most of the parents are not working and they cannot meet the school’s demands for uniforms.”
One of the beneficiaries, Adam Makhuvha, a gr. 6 learner, was over the moon when he received his new uniform.
“I will be able to concentrate now. Going to school without a proper school uniform was horrible for me and others like me, because the learners laughed at us.”
