Kgakoa choir sets sights on victory

The Kgakoa Secondary School choir will represent Limpopo at the national schools choir championships, which will be held at the International Convention Centre in Durban from July 15 to 17.

POLOKWANE – The Kgakoa Secondary School choir will represent Limpopo at the national schools choir championships, which will be held at the International Convention Centre in Durban from July 15 to 17.

The choir proceeded to the nationals after obtaining six first places at district and provincial levels; they obtained first places for mezzo soprano senior phase, baritone solo senior phase and FETs and first places in the Afrikaans, western and female categories.

Stan Mokgawa, the choir’s conductor, said: “We promise to do our best and return with a trophy.

“We would like to thank the community, the school and the Limpopo South African Schools Choral Eisteddfod committee for their support”.

The choir has obtained 21 trophies during this year’s competition.

Mokgawa said the choir won all the trophies as a result of hard work, passion and dedication. He said choirs needed to go the extra mile, to outsource and to consult with experts in order to succeed.
