SEVEN underprivileged learners from David Nkoana Primary School in Seshego were the beneficiaries of a donation of school uniforms from a small scale livestock farmer, David Nkoana.
The donation was handed over to the learners last week.
Nkoana, a former Molemole municipal manager, said the plight of children from poor backgrounds hit a soft spot with him and he saw no other solution than to extend a hand to help them.
“The learners are from the poorest of the poor in the community and their unemployed parents cannot afford to purchase uniforms for them.
“I saw it fit to assist these innocent children. This school is named in my honour after I led a protracted struggle to secure serviced residential sites for over 800 households of Zone 8 in Seshego in the 1990’s when the former Lebowa government discriminated against poor families in the allocation of residential sites,” said Nkoana, who called on other business communities to give back to schools to secure the future of children living under extreme poverty.
Nkoana also said he was deeply touched when he saw the excitement on the faces of the children after they put on their new school uniforms.
The principal, TD Mphasha, the school management team and the school governing body sincerely thanked Nkoana for alleviating the plight of the seven learners from poverty-stricken backgrounds and urged him to extent the scope by way of donations and pledges from philanthropists throughout Limpopo.
