POLOKWANE – During a special council meeting on Thursday to appoint the new Polokwane mayor, Thembisile Simelane-Nkadimeng, the new mayoral committee was also announced.
In a press conference after the special council meeting, the mayor said she was not ready to make structural changes in the management of the municipality. “The challenge of sanitation cannot be overemphasised as the backlog is far greater than in other basic services.

The mayoral commitee consists of:
• Mamedupi Teffo, chief whip;
• Caphus Mathiba, speaker;
• Charlie Molepo, finance and local economic development;
